Limited Edition of only 100! Fantastic reproduction of the finest National ever done. The Style 1 Don features many of the specifications of its 1934 counterpart. This is our first instrument which uses authentic Nickel Silver (German Silver) as the material for the body. The double cut diamond engraving pattern, ribbed sieve-hole coverplate, and the decorative“DON” engraved handstrap reproduce the look of the originals. The mahogany neck clears 14 frets to the body and features an ivoroid bound ebony fretboard complete with inlaid mother-of-pearl position markers. The slotted headstock is overlaid with engraved pearloid and comes standard with Waverly, three-on-a-plate tuners. This limited edition instrument will be accompanied by an official letter of Authenticity certifying it as one of the one hundred instruments that will be built.
" The Don re-issue is a very special National resonator.
The tone of the authentic German Silver body has the mellow edge like the 1920s Nationals
This is a wonderful reproduction of the 1934 style 1.
The nickel silver gives it a clarity and warmth not heard in the other Nationals I've played"

Reprinted from Acoustic Guitar Magazine April 1996.
Players:Mike Auldridge , Bob Brozmans, Jerry Douglas, Ben Harpers, Greg Leisz, David Lindley, Sally Van Meter.
For amplification and recording, almost all the players interviewed use the Sunrise soundhole pickup (Sunrise Pickup Systems, 8101 Orion Ave. #19, Van Nuys, CA 91406).
Much of the Sunrises mystique follows David Lindleys sound and his declaration, "Its got magic stuff in it!"
Manufacturer Jim Kaufman identifies the Sunrises "magic stuff" as its quick response, sonic imaging, pole pieces that make an audible difference when adjusted, and ability to move with the guitars top.
For microphones, Lindley and Harper favor vintage tube mikes like the AKG C-12 and M-50, while other players mention high-end Neumanns, like the U-67 and U-87. For live performances, Bob Brozman mixes a Sunrise with workhorse Shure SM-57 mikes "because thats what everybody has, so I adapt."
